For those who are in the world of health and wish to pursue a master’s degree in health at home or abroad, but lack research experience, consider the S2 Health Fellowship Program offered by Wellcome. Wellcome is an independent, global charitable foundation based in the UK with one of its aims being to improve the health of all people. This year, they have reopened the scholarship in two phases through the International Masters Scholarship Program.
Applicants who have the opportunity to participate in the S2 Scholarship Program are low and middle income citizens, one of which is Indonesia. Applicants can choose a master’s degree program in health at one of the leading tertiary institutions in the country or abroad. The Wellcome Scholarship is awarded for a period of 30 months, of which the first 12 months are intended for master’s lectures and the next 18 months are for research activities based on a proposed research plan.
The Wellcome Health Fellowship from Wellcome includes a stipend, the amount of which can be adjusted. The stipend is £15,000 per year if the lectures and research are conducted in the UK (excluding London) and £17,000 per year if the healthcare program is conducted in London. However, if the lectures and research are conducted outside the UK, for example in this country, then a stipend may be provided to adjust to the subsistence needs of that country, or a stipend may be claimed from the organisation providing the relevant research activity.
In addition to subsistence allowances, travel scholarships are available, for example, for departure and return airfares and tuition and research fees based on the respective rates.
The total value of each scholarship offered by Wellcome to selected candidates is £120,000 (± Rp 2.1 billion).
